Mehul Gandhi, Financial Accounting Manager, leads the Financial Accounting team with in Financial Services and offers the following services:

Statutory Reporting

• Prepare the University's Annual Financial Report, Annual DEST financial return, and Australian Bureau of Statistics quarterly survey / returns.

Validation of the General Ledger Account Balances

• Ensure that financial transactions are recorded in the correct General Ledger Account.
  
  
• Perform month end procedures including the opening / closing of accounting periods in the General Ledger.
  
  
• Provide advice to staff on the correct General Ledger account to use.

Fixed Assets

• Ensure that Fixed Asset financial transactions are recorded in the General Ledger, Fixed Asset Sub Ledger.
  
  
• Monitor and provide training in the use of the Asset Tracking System (HardCat) used by Faculies and Service Centres to accurately record and track purchases in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
  
  
• Provide advice to staff on the business process for the acquisition, transfer, and disposal of fixed assets.
  
  
• Coordinate the annual stocktake of the University's fixed assets recorded in the financial accounts.
  
  
• Undertake revaluations of the University's land, buildings, and artworks as required by the accounting standards.

Revenue & Bookshop Accounting

•   For information relating to Revenue.

Accounting for Salaries

• Ensure that salary financial transactions are recorded in the General Ledger and Payroll System (Alesco) accurately, completely, and in a timely manner in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
